Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start scrolling my script?
Paste or type your script in the editor, then click the Play button in the toolbar or press ⌘ + Enter. Adjust speed with the toolbar slider or arrow keys while scrolling.
How do I keep Telepane visible over Zoom/Teams/Meet?
Click the Pin to Top button in the toolbar (or press ⌘ + ⇧ + F). Adjust the Opacity slider to make the window transparent so you can see the video call behind your script.
How do I use a game controller?
Connect a USB or Bluetooth game controller. The controller icon in the toolbar shows connection status. Press the A button to play/pause, and use the left stick to adjust speed. For background control (when Telepane isn't the focused app), click the orange controller icon to grant Input Monitoring permission.
How do I flip text for a teleprompter mirror/glass rig?
Use the H Flip button in the toolbar (or ⌘ + ⇧ + H) to mirror text horizontally. Use V Flip (⌘ + ⇧ + V) for vertical flip.
How do I import a script from Word or PDF?
Go to File > Import (⌘ + ⇧ + I) and select your file. Telepane supports TXT, RTF, DOCX, and PDF formats. You can also drag and drop files onto the editor.
How do I export my script?
Go to File > Export (⌘ + ⇧ + E) and choose your format: TXT, RTF, DOCX, PDF, or Telepane Archive (.tpan). The .tpan format preserves all your settings.
Can I use multiple scripts at once?
Yes. Open additional windows with ⌘ + N. Each window has independent settings (speed, text size, flip, etc.).
Where are my scripts stored?
All scripts are saved locally on your Mac. Telepane uses a local-first autosave system — your work is saved continuously as you type.
How do I recover a previous version?
Go to File > Version History (⌘ + ⌥ + R) to browse saved snapshots. You can compare changes, restore any version, or duplicate it as a new script.
What macOS version do I need?
Telepane requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later.
